Light Up a Life
A Gathering to Honor Those We Have Lost
Sunday, November 2, 2014: 4-5pm
On November 2nd, in the very beginning of the holiday season, Trails Within will host the Third Annual Light Up a Life Ceremony. All that we ask of you is to provide us with the names of your loved ones at least a day before the event and attend our service. If you would like to bring a picture of your loved ones and meaningful memorabilia that connects you to them, please do so. Children are invited to bring art work for their loved ones as we will have a special table set up to place these items on. At the service, the names of your loved ones will be read, Ben Harston will share his beautiful music, we will hear an inspirational but non-religious speaker, and finally light a candle in honor of our deceased friends and family, or a person in your life that you would like to hold up in love.
All are welcome to attend.
To submit the name of your loved one(s) PRIOR to the service, and to REGISTER for the event, please do so by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or call Trails Within at (530) 836-1500
This is a community event that moves us all beyond political, social and religious differences and calls us to come together around shared loss and grief. The facilitator, Chris Schultz, has been attending Light Up a Life services for 28 years on the Central Coast of California and it has become the most meaningful thing she does during the holiday season. Graeagle is her home away from home and she spends many months of the year here. It is because of her connection with this community and its people that she began to visualize our own Light Up a Life service. She can see that through participation in this event, the community can grow in acceptance of each other and embrace our losses together. After all, loss and grief are something we all have in common.
